But what are the alternatives to Airbnb? And why choose alternative concepts?
As a renter, searching through more websites clearly returns a wider range of apartments and rooms to choose from, and sometimes I've even found exactly the same property cheaper elsewhere. Booking fees varies, and as a member of more vacation rental sites I'm able to enjoy regularly offered coupons and special deals that can make my holiday really cheap.
As a host, advertising on more websites gives more exposure. And more exposure means more bookings.
Below I'm listing the alternative websites to Airbnb I'm using.

Airbnb PRO'S and CON's
I've been an Airbnb host and traveller since 2 years. I'm renting out several apartments and flats and they are all listed on Airbnb. Below I list the Airbnb PRO's and CON's based on my experience:
The multicalendar tool and ICAL is great for managing multiple listings and syncronizing calendars accross multiple websites.
The Airbnb insurance covers damage up to $1.000.000 which is the best coverage in the industry.
Airbnb is the biggest community of hosts and guests and I'm by far getting most of my bookings from Airbnb
Customer service has been more difficult to reach and they need more time to solve important problems.
There is little flexibility, everything is very byrocratic and has to be done exaclty according to the policies.
